The history of Amanyangyun started more than ten years ago when a dam project in Jiangxi Province, some 700 kilometers from Shanghai, threatened to destroy a forest of old camphor trees and a group of houses from the Ming and Qing dynasties. These ancient trees and historic structures were disassembled, relocated, and painstakingly reassembled in their new location close to Shanghai in an extraordinary conservation achievement.
Every suite and villa at Amanyangyun is a work of art, seamlessly fusing contemporary luxury with traditional Chinese architecture. Originally built as historic residences in Fuzhou, the Antique Villas have undergone careful restoration to preserve their original charm while adding modern conveniences. These villas provide guests with a peaceful and engaging experience by offering a look into China's rich cultural past through its beautiful wood carvings, tiled roofs, and serene courtyards. In contrast to the Antique Villas, the Contemporary Pavilions and Suites provide modern conveniences and a streamlined, minimalistic decor. The rooms are flooded with natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows, which also provide breathtaking views of the reflecting ponds and surrounding woodland. With exquisite furniture, roomy living spaces, and cozy furnishings, every lodging is a peaceful haven.
